LANDSCAPES UNKNOWN - II by Melle van Essen and Riekje Ziengs is the sequel to their film about the renowned Dutch painter Melle Oldeboerrigter.
A film about looking and seeing, art and documentary making.
In this second part we encounter their vision on landscape, inner landscape and city-scape through the eyes of the graphic artist Jan Hendrix in Mexico, photographer Malick Sidibé in Mali and painter Frans Walon in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Its protagonists are captured intimately in a way that refers to the filmmakers' own art of experience and entering reality with camera and editing.
